The second annual School Choice National Conference brings together expert educationists, academicians and policymakers to discuss the implementation of key provisions of the Right to Education Act (RTE 2008) and their potential impact on the future of Indian elementary education. Participants will express their issues, share experiences and formulate a collective plan to advocate for reforms with the government.

The School Choice Campaign and Penguin Books launches Professor James Tooley’s new “The Beautiful Tree-A Personal Journey into How the world’s Poorest People are Educating Themselves,” as part of the dialogue series. The book launch is followed by a panel discussion between the author, Mr Madhav Chavan, Co-founder and Director, Pratham; Ms Reshma Lohia, Correspondent for Lohia’s Little Angels School, Hyderabad; and Mr Ashish Rajpal, CEO, idiscoveri on quality education (delivery, implementation and monitoring) in India.

The School Choice Campaign (SCC) hosts a panel discussion on School Admission Reforms in order to address the acute problems faced by the parents and well as the grievances of the schools in order to evolve long-term solutions to existing problems in school admission process in Delhi.

The School Choice Campaign (SCC) hosts a panel discussion on The Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Bill 2009, which guarantees education as a fundamental right to children between the ages of 6 to 14. The panel of experts represented the fields of education, development work and public policy to provide a multidimensional perspective on the issues surround the Right to Education.

School Choice Campaign brought together the fiercest of the spokespersons of the two major parties concerned- the parents and the schools- Mr Surinder Gupta, President, Unrecognised Schools Association, Mr Ashok Aggarwal, Advocate and Advisor, Social Jurist and Mr S L Jain, President, National Progressive Schools Conference to discuss representation of parents on the schools’ Management Committees (SMCs) as well as more transparency in the management of private schools.
