Budget private schools have burgeoned across the country to meet demands of poor households, and have infused the low-cost private education sector with hope for quality education. Project Umang aims to provide these schools the support required for overall school quality improvement by building capacities of three key stakeholders—students, teachers and principals. The program introduces an intervention package focusing on two major aspects required for improving quality- 1. Blended Learning 2. School Leadership Training.

To evaluate the impact of the program, we have undertaken a 2-year longitudinal study with 4 rounds of assessments. This study will try to capture the impact of the interventions on learning outcomes, and understand the processes that contribute to these outcomes. The project would be conducted in 2 cities – namely Ambala and Lucknow and would be implemented in 85 English Medium Affordable Private Schools. Approximately 6000 students, 250 teachers and 85 principals would be part of this study.
