Friedman on India
This Panel on India’s 65th day of independence, on Milton Friendman’s centennial year intends to re-introduce the economic policy reform dialogue of the 50’s and 60s that still bear relevance today to modern India and current policymaking by recognising Friedman’s commentary on Indian economic policy. Panelists include Swaminathan Aiyer, Consulting Editor for The Economics Times and a research scholar at The Cato Institute, Jaithirth Rao, Founder of Mphasis, and Parth J Shah, President of Centre for Civil Society.

A lecture by Economics Professor Christopher Lingle who is visiting from the Universidad Francisco Marroquín in Guatemala. The discussion will be centered on understanding what India conceives as democratic, just and necessary for individual success, freedom and economic growth for all. The talk is intended to understand how liberal economic principles can bring clarity and ownership to the mistake made in the past, and help identify the necessary principles we need to adopt to address poverty, illiteracy and livelihood limitations.

A lecture by Economics Professor Christopher Lingle who is visiting from the Universidad Francisco Marroquín in Guatemala. The discussion will be centered on what are the conditions that cause certain economic policies to fail and/or malfunction and who is really to blame for the global financial crisis of 2008.
Student First Dialogue: 25% Under the RTE Act: Are We Getting It Right?
The School Choice Campaign (SCC) hosts a panel discussion on 25% Reservation, which mandates all private schools to reserve 25% of their seats at the class of entry for children from economically weaker sections. The objective of this discussion is to answer some questions on the socio-economic and educational integration implications and evaluate the onus of implementation which presently lies solely with private schools.
