3rd NISA School Leaders Summit

Event Date: 27 Sep 2014; Time: 9:00 AM -6:00 PM
Venue: Multi - Purpose Hall, India International Centre, New Delhi, India
The Annual School Leaders Summit (SLS) is an initiative of National Independent Schools Alliance (NISA) that brings together multiple stakeholders representing diverse interest groups — investors, thought leaders, education service providers, affordable school leaders, and private schools association heads from more than 20 states — to discuss challenges and deep dive into issues that confront the budget private schools (BPS) sector in India. Through formal and informal interactions between these stakeholders, the Summit aims to collectively identify
opportunities and avenues for growth and improvement of BPS in India.

The central theme for third annual NISA SLS 2014 is Advocacy for BPS. This year’s Summit will bring government, media and regulatory bodies together to share their perceptions with respect to private education in general, and the BPS sector in particular. NISA’s close interaction with BPS shows that these three stakeholders have the maximum potential to have long-lasting impact on the sector. Therefore, the Summit will deep-dive into issues and strategies to enable these stakeholders to work independently, and collectively towards ensuring that every child has the choice of quality education at an affordable price.

SESSION 1: GOVERNMENT PERSPECTIVES ON BPS
To understand the scope and focus of advocacy with government, identify areas for collaboration and take one step forward towards narrowing the divide between the Central and State governments and BPS

SESSION 2: REGULATORY CHALLENGES FOR BPS
To understand the current legal framework such as RTE Act and various State-level ed-ucation laws governing BPS, identify the space to work towards improving the regu-latory environment and shifting its overall focus towards outcomes in education

SESSION 3: MEDIA AND BPS
To identify the potential role of local and national media in creating a favourable image of BPS by highlighting their contribution towards enhancing access to education at affordable prices for poor children in the country
