Saloni's academic background can be described as multi-disciplinary. She holds an integrated law and humanities degree (BA LLB) from the Army Institute of Law. Subsequent to law school, she pursued the Young India Fellowship, which awarded her a post graduate diploma in liberal studies from Ashoka University. She has also worked with the National Institute of Urban Affairs (NIUA) on a short project that involved research on municipal e-governance. She enjoys reading classic literature in her leisure time.
