Author & Public Intellectual
Gurcharan Das is an author and public intellectual and former CEO of Procter & Gamble India. After heading Procter & Gamble India and South East Asia, he became Managing Director, Procter & Gamble Worldwide (Strategic Planning). At 50, he took early retirement to become a full time writer. He is the author of many acclaimed works, including India Grows at Night (which was on the Financial Times list of best books for 2013), The Difficulty of Being Good and India Unbound. He is a regular columnist at major newspapers including the Times of India and Dainik Bhaskar; and also writes periodically in New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Financial Times, Foreign Affairs, and Newsweek.
