As per reports, recently along with many significant organizations, Centre came to Supreme Court and highlighted several important issues and made an ardent plea for allowing voluntary use of Aadhaar cards which are presently held by 90 crore citizens to precisely recognize welfare scheme beneficiaries.
In the meantime, in their plea, the Centre also demanded that the court should modify the SC’s August 11 temporary decision which limited the use of Aadhaar card lone for LPG subsidy and ration throughout the public distribution system.
In the meantime, regarding this plea, a bench of justices including J Chelameswar, S A Bobde and C Nagappan soon might announce its decision.
On the other hand, showing its support to the Centre’s plea an NGO, ‘Centre for Civil Society’, of the various through a senior advocate K K Venugopal said that while availing the benefits of various social welfare schemes, all the citizens certainly did not want to protect their privacy by using Aadhaar, and therefore the Supreme Court could immediately stop them from using the card and make them experience a awkward option to avail the welfare benefits.
