A Manipuri filmmaker Meena Longjam fetches no less pride and glory to the north eastern region when her debut documentary film ‘Auto Driver’ won the Jury’s Special Mention at the recently concluded Signs film festival in Kerala.
The film deals with the story of a lady auto driver based in the trouble torn city of Imphal. Her moral responsibility to support her ailing husband forced her to took up auto driving profession defying their tradition. It is said that the Auto driver was a part of project development workshop organized by Documentor, Kolkatta in association with TC Foundation Manipur and mentored by international award winning filmmakers.
Auto driver will be screened in November 12 at Jeevika: Asian Livelihood festival in New Delhi and in the 21st Kolkata International film festival in the competition section. It was co-produced by Ourvillage films and cinematography done by award winning filmmaker Oinam Doren.
